Stuart has over 15 years’ experience advising employers and trustees on pensions law, with an emphasis on finance & investment issues. He has a keen interest in environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues including climate change, responsible and impact investing, with particular expertise advising clients in relation to fiduciary duties, policy and stewardship. Stuart has extensive experience advising trustees on investment strategy, compliance and implementation in relation to investment regulation, which includes trustee training, reviewing and advising on appropriate updates to schemes’ Statement of Investment Principles (SIPs). He led the Association of Pension Lawyers’ response to consultation ‘clarifying and strengthening investment duties’. Stuart is chair of the joint industry working group set up by the government and The Pensions Regulator (TPR) to develop guidance for pension schemes on reporting in-line with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
